The final event of the year was last Saturday down in Windsor. I took part in the Duathlon at Dorney Lake which was organised by F3 Events. You may remember back at the beginning of the year I attempted to do 2 Duathlons in 2 days but that weekend fell foul of the “Beast from the East”. Although I travelled down for it it was cancelled that morning due to the ground being unsafe due to snow & ice.
For this event we (my partner Nicola was on pap duties as usual!) came down from Derbyshire and stayed at the Premier Inn in Slough, a 10 minute drive from the event location. Registration was at 7am on the day so an early start. All checked in nice and smooth and I had become no 66 for the day. After a warm up in the sunshine we were off at 8.30am,. There wasn’t as many competitors as normal but still a good turn out. I’d entered the “sprint” discipline so it was a 5km run, 20km bike, 5km run. Having previously done this event in February of 2016 I had a time to beat….and I did by 2 minutes!
It’s been a great year of events and we now move on to the big one of Husky Sledding across Norway in March next year. Thanks to everyone who has helped in some way to get me passed that £5k target I set back in January. However, it’s not over yet. There are a couple of plans for next year after the Huskys but I’m going to keep them quiet for now!
As normal you’ll find lots more pictures and the obligatory video clips on my Instagram @paul_thompson0869 feel free to check it out and remember come March time there’ll be loads of cute Huskys on there too!
