This weekend sees me starting the fundraising journey with #2in2duathlons – 2 Duathlons in 2 days.
The first of the #2in2duathlons is the Clumber Park Duathlon. I’ll be at Clumber Park early doors on Saturday for the OSB events Duathlon. My start wave is at 9.16am, but registration is open from 7am! It’s a 10km run , 40km bike and a 5km run. Then the plan is get over to Rochdale to hopefully watch my team, AFC Wimbledon come away with 3pts! Then we (my partner and I) are heading south for the F3 Events Windsor Duathlon at Dorney Lake, the venue for the Olympic rowing. Luckily, I have managed to book a hotel and late checkout so that after the race, I ‘ll get a nice hot shower and stretch off. It is not the warmest weather forecast for the weekend, but I will have my Combat Stress orange t shirts and a few extra layers.
I’ve done the Windsor Duathon before in 2016 and can happily report it’s very flat, although the weekend temperatures aren’t going to be much above 2 or 3 degrees celsius!
Here’s a pic here of me crossing the finish line the previous time. I was very pleased that I got round ok, but was even happier to get into some warm kit.
Here is a picture of me on the bike from the last Windsor Duathlon. Both my fitness and my bike have improved since then so I’m looking forward to a better time. I’m not sure how stiff my legs will be, I’ve had some “advice” from Marcus at Holywell Health Centre . He’s been looking after my calfs and dodgy hamstring for a while now and runs “Ultra marathons”. So I think he knows what he’s on about!
Check back after the weekend to see how I got on and just how cold Nicola got. You can also follow #2in2duathlons on twitter for Nicola’s live tweets from the sidelines!!
