On Sunday 13th May it was time to take on the 2nd event of the fundraising for Combat Stress, namely the Holymoorside 10k, Having done this race for the last 2 years I knew what I was letting myself in for. This isn’t a flat course! The first 4 and a bit kms of the Holymoorside 10k are uphill all the way then it levels off and down you go. This race is also a fundraiser for the 1st Holymoorside scouts so no collection buckets for us at this one.
By the time the race started the sun was shining and it was hotting up! This year there was a total of 422 runners of varying ages and abilities. The winner came in at 34mins and the last runner at 1hr 34. I was placed at 286 out of the 422 with a time of 57.11, not the quickest I’ve done that race but the weather and my lack of energy after working until late the night before did have something to do with this.
The fundraising is gathering pace a bit and we’re up to £775 it would be great to have a few more donations to spur me on to get the other 6 challenges completed. A few more pics for you and we go on to the next event which is the Peak Pioneer Mountain bike event next Sunday…..just 76 miles!
Thanks for reading this latest blogpost and please donate what you can. Thanks to Tony Wood for the uphill pic from Instagram!
