It may have been a bit quiet on here but if you follow me on Instagram @paul_thompson0869 you would have seen I’ve been putting in plenty of training rides and classes to get ready for the final two events for this year.
Most notably the event on the 22nd July is the Nottinghamshire Wheeler, a 102 mile cycling event starting off at Southwell racecourse. Recently I spent a week down in Broadstairs where I managed to get out on a couple of decent 55+ mile rides in very hot temperatures. Also while I was there a blagged myself a free 5 day pass to the local leisure centre and went to a couple of “Fight Klub” classes. Similar sort of thing to Boxercise but on a boxing column rather than pads. That certainly got a sweat on doing that. The cardio training really helps and of course there’s no substitute for getting actual time out in the saddle. After suffering from cramp in the TOC I’ve been working on my “Aductor” muscles to try not to have it happen this time.
Once this one is in the bag it’ll back on with my running shoes as the final event of the year is the F3 Events Autumn Windsor Duathlon on the 2oth October. Having done this event before I know what to expect. It’s flat, fast and normally cold too! This event sees me catch up with the “Beast from the East” events that were cancelled earlier in the year.
